Even in February, the scientific and cultural program at STEP FuturAbility District (Piazza Adriano Olivetti 1)—the innovative space for connecting with the future where everyone can better understand the ongoing digital revolution and learn how to become active participants—is enriched with new events featuring exceptional speakers.
On Tuesday, February 4, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the workshop “The Science of Stars and Stones: An Introduction to Archaeoastronomy” will take place. During this session, the discussion will focus on how archaeoastronomy—the science of stars and stones—can provide important insights into the enigmatic monuments of the past, thanks to its collaboration with archaeology. Moreover, the conference will offer a virtual tour of some locations where spectacular phenomena, designed millennia ago, occur, including the Giza Plateau in Egypt. Giulio Magli, an astrophysicist by training and full professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan—where he serves as Director of the FDS Outreach and Experimentation Laboratory and teaches the only course on Archaeoastronomy ever established at an Italian university—will be present.
On Wednesday, February 12, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, STEP will host the first of three meetings dedicated to exploring Artificial Intelligence from different perspectives by combining theory and practice. The first meeting, entitled “AI in 90 Minutes – Communicating with AI: The Perfect Prompt,” will illustrate the main techniques for constructing effective prompts, accompanied by practical examples. Eugenio Spagnuolo, journalist and AI communicator for Il Corriere della Sera and for health and longevity at La Gazzetta dello Sport, will guide the audience. In the past, he has collaborated with Focus, Wired, and Rai 3, among others.
On Tuesday, February 18, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the event “Watched and Content: Security and Intelligence in the Global Era” will take place, during which the discussion will explore how digital transformation is changing our relationship with the world and how “things” are becoming increasingly intelligent—bringing both endless opportunities and new risks. The guest will be Marco Santarelli, Professor of Security and Intelligence, who conducts investigative analyses for government agencies. After completing classical and philosophical studies, he specialized with Masters and advanced training courses in Security, Intelligence, and Terrorism, and now promotes a culture of security through international media, TV, and radio.
